However, the film's second life on VHS and cable TV allowed it to find its audience over time, and today it is recognized as a fantasy box office bomb deserving of a second chance. Scott has since directed several cinematic classics, including 'Gladiator' and 'Thelma & Louise', while Cruise has become one of the biggest movie stars on the planet, starring in the 'Mission: Impossible' franchise and 'Top Gun: Maverick'.
